Agencies Vs Freelancers: Round 1

in #video7 years ago (edited)

Creative agencies often take advantage of the lack of knowledge their clients have about services like SEO, PPC, social media marketing and web development. Meanwhile freelancers, who in many cases would do a much better specialized job, largely go unnoticed because they lack the marketing budgets to aggressively invest in Adwords. I recently had a debate about this exact issue on LinkedIn. A young founder of a digital marketing agency was expressing his frustration with people on LinkedIn saying his profile picture is childish, claiming he knew nothing about marketing based on using words like growth hacker. This was my response:

It's all unnecessary banter. How many real twitter followers do you have? How many subscribers on YouTube, followers on Instagram, likes on your FB page and genuine connections on LinkedIn? Do you post on Medium, Quora, Steemit, LinkedIn Pulse etc... Is your content dynamic multi-media content that solves problems and inbound focused? How much traffic from this content do you convert to sale for yourself and your clients? These are the questions that are never asked by clients and the same questions most of the people judging you try to avoid themselves because they rather banter about being number 1 on Google for "top agency Small Town" (thanks to Adwords), than to actually test the boundaries of what is required to build an organic real community online for their business and their clients. Their judgment of you is based in a fear of truth. You are catching push-back because you are a truth seeker in your field. KEEP IT UP!

Here is a video I made on how to negotiate a lower cost on Web Design Services. Enjoy!

Excellent video. Just one suggestion... too much text. People that like to watch YouTube videos tend to want to watch and listen, not read. Hope that helps

Would it surprise you if I told you someone gave me the exact opposite advice on here. I figure if you want to watch the video, you will scroll down directly to it, but ultimately steemit is a text first platform. Those who are here just for the video, know what a video iframe looks like, but if those who like video and text or just text arrive then they are shit out of luck if I don't type something.
