While others may pay $600 a year to rent the Adobe Creative Cloud, HitFilm Express (https://hitfilm.com/express) is a free (though not open source) version of HitFilm Pro editing software that graphically and functionally behaves very similarly to Adobe Premiere and classic Final Cut Pro.
HitFilm Express is perfect for oneoff short videos, and Its free price tag makes this an ideal collaboration tool.
BIGGEST PRO: Composite motion graphics and visual effects in the same tool you use to edit!
CON: Its lack of multiple editing timelines limits its ability to be fast and fluid like Adobe Premiere. In fact, Adobe remains worth the expense for me because of factors like this.
RUNNER UP: DaVinci Resolve
-An industry leader in color grading
-Not ideal for motion graphics as you need the pay version to direct link into a composite
-A heavier load on your computer than HitFilm and a bit slower.
