Choreo Yoga-where art meets yoga
Art is the purest expression of spirit. It is where creativity meets emotion and imagination and is let loose upon the world in various forms. I have struggled with art for many years. I turned to yoga as an alternative way to release the emotions that were being held within my body and I found a very satisfying release. Then I found Choreo Yoga and it was as though some small part of me had come alive.
HISTORY OF CHOREO YOGA:
Choreo Yoga was brought to the United States by Swamini Ma Shakti Devi in 2008. Swamini Ma Shakti Devi established an ashram in the Sugarhouse district in Salt Lake City, Utah. She began offering Choreo Yoga classes as well as many others. From there, a Choreo Yoga championship was created as well as a Choreo Yoga teacher training. You can find more information about Swamini Ma and the ashram here: http://integratedschoolofyoga.com/?page_id=569.
My history with Choreo Yoga:
After a Choreo Yoga class, I was hooked. I ended up training at the ashram and receiving an international certification to teach 7 different styles of yoga with Choreo Yoga being my yoga of choice. I competed in the 2013 Yoga Championship and the 2013 Choreo Yoga championship and ended up with first place in both competitions. I then completed my Master of Yoga training at the ashram enabling me to train others to teach. I continue to practice Choreo Yoga frequently as well as others. Choreo Yoga allows me to express and release emotions that I have struggled with for years.
