The following fundraiser was rejected by YouCaring, it seems they don’t care about Venezuelans – or it might just be a legal issue and not their fault, who knows.

My name is Daniel Knobelsdorf. I was selected to present blockchain solutions for Venezuela at Plan País 2018, next March 30-31. This is a yearly conference with work-sessions focused on the future of the country. Current focus areas include mass migration, the economic collapse and humanitarian crisis.

It's an amazing opportunity for impact but it doesn't cover airfare or any stipend, which is why I'm doing this fundraise for a round trip from Caracas to Boston MA ($761 current lowest airfare). Any extra funding will go to Apertus – read on for a sneak peek.

I have several reasons that drive me to be there. Here they are:

• After the 2017 protests, I managed to challenge myself and took part in a fellowship at Singularity University. There, I committed to contribute to the future of governance.

• I believe that the future of governance lies in civic actions and this encouraged me to start working on Apertus, a proposal for a blockchain-powered platform to nurture, drive and expand these actions.

• During this time, I started collaborating with several local grassroots organizations and found in all of them, a huge desire to build shared visions of the future, collaborate and join efforts.

• Venezuela currently offers a strange mix of a booming crypto-world alongside an economic and social collapse. Its people demand change and disruption. This is the perfect space to design a platform that drives social action, crowdsourcing new models of governance from the bottom up.

• The presentation will cover the current state of blockchain in Venezuela, the platform we are working on, and examples of local initiatives and other platforms that could be implemented in the country. There's also a possibility to do two demos: Democracy Earth and Bitnation.

• The experience will provide a kickstart/validation for the development of the platform. If you want to know more about it or collaborate, do reach out! We are working on a concept one-pager – and any extra funding will go towards efforts to build upon it.

Why raise funds? Two reasons. I've been bootstrapping for the last six months and could use a hand. And, test approaching the global blockchain community for support.
