HEDE: The Wikipedia of our time. [Part Four]

Introduction

Every new entry or post on a site gives it a significant push either upwards or downwards on the Google search engine. This usually depends on the number of views and sometimes ratings. Is it possible that there would be a time when one key in a word or phrase into the Google’s search engine and HEDE’s entry would appear as third, second or even the first? Well if you don’t, I myself do believe in that possibility.

The more visitors or active users on the platform, the more views it would have. Where there are no entries made on the platform, there would be no search results pointing to Hede. Concerning the rhetorical question I asked above, I remember a post I once made on HEDE sometime ago and which @ercu made a comment on.

He had stated that we Hede was not built as a means of abolishing Wikipedia, far from it. He then reiterated that his dream was to ensure completeness of Wikipedia by allowing for comprehensive and self-written details and not copies from the internet.

Now, there was also a time when I searched for a topic on Wikipedia. I was unable to find what I was looking for. This made me know that not all could be found on the website as I had previously thought. That is why I wish to continue this series on themes and how to use them properly. I believe that there is a need to explain what all these themes are, and how they make users entries better.

The 3rd class themes

As I’ve said in my previous posts, the breakdown of the themes into classes is from my own perspective. It is not applicable to everyone as my 3rd class themes could be your 1st class themes. The themes I have placed in this category are those relating to the fun we engage in everyday of our lives. Some of them include:

CINEMA: In one of my posts on the themes, I explained that HEDE should be for fun and not totally business-like or formal. It should be one to bring different kinds of excitement and knowledge to people. Hence, this theme is one that depicts another side of Hede that is brought to the table. When speaking of cinemas, one does not have to write on how a cinema was built, the origin of cinemas, how a cinema functions or how they make their money from their customers and patronisers.

Users writing under this theme can give information about movie updates in the cinema. Your entry should border on a movie that has been made whether released or not and a short description of the movie. A list of the actors or actresses including images or screenshots of the movie scenes can also be included in the entry. When an entry is made about a movie which has not yet released, the writer could spice it up by including the release date.

Users should also note that this theme is not restricted to movies alone as songs, cartoons, series etc. could be written about as well.

GAME: This is one of the greatest source of fun for humans, especially kids, teenagers and even some adults. You would be surprised to see the number of adults or parents who follow the game updates. For this reason, this theme should be packed to provide all and sundry who are in need of such information with their needs.

One of my first posts on the HEDE platform was under this theme and it was a comparison of the PES 2018 and what is expected in the PES 2019. Now those kind of information interests the players of these games as they would get a glimpse of how the upcoming version would be and be looking forward to its release.

This theme is not only restricted to football games because there are also people who follow other categories of games like the arcade, adventure, strategy, racing etc. Also, information on the game playing devices and versions could be included too just like the PlayStation 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Xbox, PC etc.

At the moment, virtual reality in gaming is rocking the game industry today. Topics and entries related to virtual reality games can be written about and posted under the Game theme. Such updates and information are important especially as it is still a new one in the industry.

Back when I was playing the GTA V game, I combed the net in search of support to combat the tough missions. Luckily, after an extensive search, I managed to find a website where I got the help I needed. Now, those kind of information if comprehensive and dependable, can attract gamers to this platform. So users when making entry under the Game theme on Hede can also write on support for games they are familiar with.

MUSIC: I learnt back in primary school that music is the food of the soul. However, I later got to understand when I saw the magic of music as an adult now. Music has the ability to heal relationship wounds, calm a raging bull and ease away one’s stress. @ercu’s choice of including this theme on this platform was really a wonderful and wise decision.

That a music theme is on the Hede platform doesn’t mean that it becomes a music download site, no. People making entries under this theme could simply write about their favourite music, musicians or discuss lyrics of a particular song. You can also add the song’s cover image while referencing the image correctly to where you picked it from. Also, @ercu has made provisions for an opportunity to add a link in your entry.

Thus, users wishing to add a download link in their entries can simply do that. All you would need to do is to endeavour that the link is free of ads or has less ads. Also, you have to ensure that the link is free from malware and safe for users to download from. This is necessary to avoid the possibility of them being hacked unknowingly or unwittingly downloading any form of malware.

TV: Do you know that we have very talented ladies here on the Steem blockchain? Of course, if you don’t, I do. I was really surprised at the time I recently joined when I came across a number of them on the discord server even from my homeland. Now, the TV theme is just like the education theme which encompasses science, health, arts, literature etc. In the same way, the TV theme can also encompass cinema, food, music, travel and even education as well.

This is because on the TV, there are a lot of channels, programs, and shows. The reason I mentioned our talented female Steemers at the start of this theme was because in the world, women watch TV shows more than men. Hence, they could give us a slice of what’s happening on the TV and in those shows.

They are at a better disposition of making entries under this theme. Female users are more likely to give us accurate information on recent programmes, shows, dramas and plays. So writing under this theme, users can simply talk about the last drama they watched, lessons learnt and what they enjoyed the most. They can also talk about their favourite actors and actresses and even compare two or more actors.

Conclusion

I have come to the end of this series on themes I tag Third Class themes. Hopefully, I have been able to outline the kind of information, topics and entries needed under a specific theme. There still exist the last class of themes I need to talk about. I have generously nicknamed them fourth class themes. At the conclusion of that post, we will come to a final end of this series on themes.

Making an entry without putting them under the right theme is totally a wrong way of passing information. Such actions can lead to confusion and misunderstanding for readers as well as writers or contributors on the platform. I urge our moderators to join me in this sensitization process. Contributors on HEDE who make wonderful entries should be rewarded more often. This would give them the needed motivation to continue.

When good contributors are lacking, the platform would lose the little users it has. Gradually, it would begin to die off until it no longer has a place amongst dApps on the Steem blockchain. It is my hope that it does not happen that way with Hede.
