Agrawal said that the minister-MP will be inside the airport at night.Police in Assam have detained a delegation of Trinamool Congress at Silchar Airport to protest against the removal of the names of 40 lakh new names in the newly released citizenship.Assam Police Additional DG Mukesh Agarwal said that eight ministers were given "preventive detention".Mukesh Agarwal said, "Since Section 144 has been imposed in Kachhar district last night, they have been detained within the airport due to the disruption of peace and order."According to BBC News, the Trinamul Congress delegation led by Silchar to give a speech in a rally in protest against the names of the 40 lakh people in the state from the national civic list. Local journalists say that Section 144 has been imposed so that the Trinamool can not join rally or can not speak to the Bangla speakers here.

The detained officers are West Bengal state minister Syed Hakim, Lok Sabha member Sukhdev Shekhar Rai, Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Mamtabala Thakur, Arpita Ghosh, Nadim-ul Haq, Ratna De Nag and Member of State Assembly Mahua Moitra. None of them were allowed to leave the Silchar airport.
