I came to know that utopian.io is the right place to express any concern related to the apps developed on the steem blockchain. I tried a lot to sign in on utopian.io but I couldn't do it rightly. Hence I would like to suggest an improvement that must be made to the Dtube through a usual steemit blog.

Dtube

Dtube is the video platform just like YouTube which is built upon steem blockchain. Anyone who has a steemit account can upload videos to Dtube and get rewarded if the community finds it valuable. But to watch videos one doesn't need to have a steemit or Dtube account.

My concern

For last two days I'm trying to upload a video into Dtube but it is failing after consuming 90% of my mobile data. I have only 1GB per day data allocated in my phone and after trying to upload the 6 minute length video I was curtailed from the internet access! This all happens because of one simple thing- Dtube has the option to upload video even when we are logged out

The above screenshot shows the progression of uploading a video even when I was logged out. It is probably more than 90% and after uploading completely it showed the progress of IPFS, 480p and things like that as usual. When I clicked on submit button there was nothing happening. It was only then that I noticed I hadn't logged into Dtube! It took almost 1.5 hours and nearly 900MB to upload this entire video only to go in vain later!

My Suggestions

Although I consider it as a bug, I don't have enough knowledge to create repositories on GitHub and make a technical post out of it. So this suggestions are from the viewpoint of a layman who use Dtube. Let me point them out.

1. Don't show the upload option when someone is not logged into the Dtube account. Now it sits perfectly on the top like this even as I visited as a guest

1. If the developers are reluctant to remove that option, please do add something precautionary right before dropping a video for uploading into the box. Currently it falsely shows the process of uploading and consumes too much of data unnecessarily.

All screenshots that I provided above are from when I was just a guest. My account looks like the below screenshot when I'm logged in.

NB- While writing this article I checked again to see if I can post without logging in but it asked me to login. I don't understand why does this all happens. Uploading should atleast be automatically cancelled if we happen to log out while in the middle of the process. I hope developers who are behind this will take notice of it.
