In our province in Pakistan, the government with the collaboration of the world bank has started a project on early age programming and it is really helping the kids to gain an early insight into programming.
That's a great initiative from your government @mmasim. Hope a lot more will follow.
Programming is not just a specialized skill anymore, with the advent of smart phones and a lot of gadgets, it has now become a necessity, even if you just want to program for fun. Kids these days are heavily addicted to video games, so why not make use of their talents to build their own games? Win-win.
