Ontology is a set of concepts and categories in a subject area or domain that shows their properties and the relations between them. The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) has a goal to standardize vocabulary of phenotypic abnormalities that meets human diseases. HPO currently contains about 11,000 terms and it’s still being developed using medical literature. It has a wide range of use such as clinical diagnostics, bioinformatics researches etc. and also has a web browser.
