Building Steemlinked, a community of professionals on Steem

in #utopian-io7 years ago (edited)

Hello Mates!

This post is about my upcoming application based on Steem blockchain, which is named @steemlinked.

Here is the project introduction

Today we are very excited to introduce Steemlinked, a community of professionals around the globe. At steemlinked, we are trying to build a platform that enables users to network with other professionals in multiple domains.

Proposal

Introduction : Steemlinked is a community platform for professionals in various fields based on the Steem blockchain. Steem is a blockchain that rewards content creators and innovators for their contribution to the online ecosystem. There are many successful applications have been built on top the Steem blockchain, including steemit.com, busy.org, utopian.io
Our Vision : At Steemlinked, we are building a community of professionals, to help them network with other professionals and share their ideas and skills. This community will also help people to hire other professionals, to expand their business via advertising their services on the platform. Our platform provides a decentralized platform managed by the community and having features such as secure third-party regulated escrow contracts between the professionals to automate payment and manage disputes.

Our Roadmap

Prototype : The prototype will demonstrate the ability of users to log in to the application via steemconnect V2. It will also enable users to list their business/service offerings and job postings in various categories mentioned below. Timeline 1st March.

Alpha : We will add a feature to enable users to send proposals or offers/quotes via comments.

Beta : We will add Proposals to Escrow contracts. Anyone can register as an escrow agent by paying a minimum fee. Escrow agent can charge a fee for any transaction. Users can choose their escrow by fees and reputation. Feature to register as an escrow agent and process escrow contracts with minimal intervention.

Problem domain : The current online community of professionals is distributed on various platforms like linkedIn, Quora, stack overflow, freelancer, fiverr, etc. While some platforms have been able to connect professionals around the globe, most of them are centralised and the professionals do not get any reward for their participation in the network, while charges for transactions for professional services are very high ranging from 5-25 % of the value of the service or in the form of monthly subscriptions, proposal credits and fees for the services.
Users are also subjected to paid marketing strategies and often stolen of their data.

Solution : At Steemlinked, we are trying to build a community where people get incentivized for their participation in the community via post rewards. It will encourage people to make more and more contributions to the community and help it grow.

Features : Steemlinked will have following features, which will be explained in detail later.

Login / Sign up With Steem via steemconnect v2.
Write new blog posts to share their ideas,
Add a job posting to hire experts in different domains
Add a service listing to find work in various domains
Share ideas on blog posts
Send proposal/application to job posting
Accept proposal and hire / Buy a service via Escrow contract
Send Custom offers to quotes
Choose escrow agent and terms by consensus

We are starting off as a fork from open source code of busy.org, just like utopian did.

The application code can be found at Github

The alpha version is deployed at heroku with CICD ( continuos integration and Continuous deployment).

This is a completely open source project and I will be posting task request for the app here on utopian for contribution from open source developers community.

For any queries and suggestions, we can get connected on steemit.chat or you can direct message or email me on Google at [email protected]

So, you fork the busy project - lose 83 future commits and change 3 files and call it a new Project?

What the f?

Hello, we are in very early stage of creating the application. It was forked a month ago, hence lagging behind from the busy code. Moreover, we are taking the busy.org code as the base and will be doing our own development on top of it, so future commits doesn't matter. We had to start somewhere, so be it this. Thanks for the hatred, it's motivating!

Okay, I've removed the downvote and given you an upvote on this comment. Interested on seeing the development :)

Thanks @therealwolf, I genuinely want to contribute to the community. Will be posting the progress here on utopian.

Ok cool. But please make sure that you have made some progress - other wise you can post it in another category (besides Utopian) or use the blog-tag in Utopian.

Your contribution cannot be approved because it is not as informative as other contributions. See the Utopian Rules. Contributions need to be informative and descriptive in order to help readers and developers understand them.

Renaming a few files of a fork does not constitute enough of a contribution.

Do come back when you have made significant progress on the code.

It might have done better as a blog post. Do check the rules.

You can contact us on Discord.

What is the measure of "significant process"?

I'm not a moderator, but also a developer and a development-contribution requires significant code changes (which you currently don't have). You can create a blog-post about it and just tell people your thoughts and ask for help / feedback. But it's not yet a development contribution.
