The Tragic Stories of : Selfie Junkies and Social Media
The phenomenon of selfie actually make a world scene since 2013. The increasingly sophisticated technological devices coupled with smart phone applications encourage people to show off their selfie photos. Selfie is a picture of yourself that is usually taken over the smart phone and then distributed to various social media.
The mobile phone world is crammed with selfie photos. As if never tired of showing off to the world. As this phenomenon increasingly plagues life, there is the thought of 'psychological distress of self-perpetrators?'
To answer that, a master is most appropriate to explain the phenomenon of selfie. Roslina Verauli, child psychologist, teenager, and family argues that it is too early if the selfie is considered a psychiatric disorder.
"Basically all healthy people are capable of narcissistic," said the woman familiarly called Vera to CNN Indonesia. "Sigmund Freud's approach to psychoanalytic theory states that healthy humans should be able to respect themselves," Vera said.
Self-respect, it is a key word that needs to be held. The shape also varies according to Vera. "Like being able to keep myself from smoking and avoiding drugs. Selfie is a form of self-esteem. "
Even the selfie is called the narcissistic nature of a person. Narcissism is a feeling of excessive self-love.
When the phenomenon occurs in a very excessive dose it is called narcissistic personality disorder or disorder narcissism, which is classified as a disorder kejiwan. However, it does not mean that people who never do selfie photos have no problems with the psyche.
"Someone who does not have a narcissistic desire at all means there is something wrong with him, because he does not have a positive appreciation of himself," said psychologist author of the book Ugly Duckling, Beautiful Swan.
Someone, Vera said, should be at a reasonable stage in doing selfie.
