Superhero Movies From Marvel and DC in 2019 and Beyond

There's no denying that superhero is one of the most popular movie genres in the world right now. Ever since the success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, the world drifted towards superheroes. The creation of Marvel Cinematic Universe gave a much-needed boost to the genre. Even DC followed the same path of introducing a separate universe and came up with DC Extended Universe.

Other than these two universes, Marvel and DC both have other series which always have fans on the edge of their seat and excited for what's coming next. The two comic giants have revealed the line-ups of movies coming out in next few years. So, without further ado, let us jump to the list of upcoming movies in 2019 and beyond.

Chris Claremont's "The Dark Phoenix Saga" will hit the big screen in the form of Dark Phoenix starring Sophie Turner. The movie will be a follow-up to X-Men: Apocalypse. Set in the 1990s, a decade after X-Men: Apocalypse events, Jean Grey will evolve from a superhero to a supervillain. The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and James McAvoy as Professor X.

Release date: March 8, 2019

The movie will follow Carol Danvers' journey from fighter pilot to Captain Marvel, one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes. It will be set in the 1990s after Earth is caught in a conflict between two alien worlds. Brie Larson will star as Captain Marvel. The upcoming Marvel Comics movie is also the first solo film in MCU starring a female superhero.

This DC movie revolves around the story of a young kid, Billy Batson who is granted the powers of six heroes by a wizard. He uses the powers by saying the wizard's name, "Shazam!" and he gets transformed into a superhero, Captain Marvel. The movie stars Zachary Levi as Captain Marvel, Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, and Asher Angel as Billy Batson.

The events of Avengers: Infinity War are still swirling in our minds as we await the next part of the movie, Avengers 4. The film will reveal the fate of our superheroes and Thanos. It is also expected to be the last movie for many stars including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) as their contracts with the comic giant will also expire with the film.
