my 2021 reflection, pt 1.

in #university3 years ago

The year began very awfully, I mean I know we are in the middle of a pandemic and it’s not easy for everyone but generally this year was horrible for me but it there were some memorable moments I guess.

I had to wait for my
matric results, I studied very hard last year during my last year in high
school I was a bit positive about that, but I was still pretty anxious. Well…
the results came out and babe, I did so well, and I was generally proud of
myself 3 distinctions a couple of 6’s and well mathematics was a 5 and I’m grateful
for that, proud of myself *pats myself on my back*. After the results came the
big moment… university acceptance letters, oh shit!!! Well, I already knew I
was conditionally accepted into my first option, the University of Pretoria…  technically I was conditionally accepted last
year, but after the results came out, I was officially accepted in UP and yay I
was going to BECOME A TUKKIE like I planned.

Wits rejected me, as well as UJ,
UFS and other universities which was alright because bitch I got an acceptance,
right? A few days later I came back home in the afternoon and my mother was like,
“Hey, did you see the UCT SMS?”, UCT SMS excuse me what, What UCT SMS? I read
the message and what in the hell? I GOT INTO THE UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN OH
LORD! The number one university in the continent… me? That was awesome but I wasn’t
crazy excited about it because deep down I knew my parents couldn’t afford to get
me to Cape Town and I had issues with accommodation, bummer.
