Geographically, Aceh province position is at the tip of Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Aceh province is inhabited by approximately 5.4 million people consisting of various tribes. At present, Aceh may be somewhat popular, this is caused by the earthquake and tsunami that hit Aceh on December, 26th 2004.
However, in this paper it is not about earthquake and tsunami that hit Aceh that the writer wants to discuss, but the other uniqueness of Aceh has such as language, culture and customs that writer thinks very interesting to be observed, of course the uniqueness the writer will discuss in detail one by one. The details will be discussed is as a part of my responsibility as one of Acehnese’s son to introduce my beloved birthplace. Besides, this paper can be as a reference and information for all people who want to know about Aceh deeper so as to increase understanding about Aceh that is known as the “1001 coffee shop area”.
Although Aceh is only inhabited by some 5.2 million people but Aceh also consists of several tribes such as Aceh itself, Alas, Gayo, and Jamee tribe. Due to the existence of several tribes that live in Aceh so that there are many languages used for communicating. Gayo language for instance, people from the tribe Gayo (who settled in the highlands of Aceh), of course use the Gayo vernacular when they interact among fellow society from Gayo tribe, but when the Gayo society interact with people from other than Gayo, Aceh tribe for example, Gayo society will speak aceh language, considering Gayo language is a very limited language where only Gayo society and a few other people who understand Gayo language, this is done to show the high tolerance possessed by people from various tribes who settled in Aceh province ...
