ULOG #1: A Visit in Samar’s San Juan Floating Restaurant and Boardwalk by the Bay
Hello, Steemians! This is my first U-LOG content in participation of celebrating humanity lead by one of the whales that I admire the most, @surpassinggoogle.
I decided to make my first U-Log content to be special, so, I’ll be spending time to tell you about my visit in Sta. Rita, Samar’s known attraction, San Juan Floating Restaurant and Boardwalk by the Bay. This attraction was unveiled last February 17, 2016.
The attraction’s name is derived from San Juanico strait where San Juanico Bridge is situated. San Juanico Bridge is the Philippines’ longest bridge, about 2.16km long, and is connecting two main islands, Samar and Leyte. At the other side of the bridge, particularly at the Samar side, the municipality of Sta. Rita is located.
When we touched down at the spot, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly locals. Their welcoming center is in the form of a nipa hut and it is where we pay for the entrance fee going to the floating restaurant. The entrance fee for adults is 25 pesos only and is free for the kids. After we logged in our names, we then started to prepare ourselves for a 400-meter walk and there the adventure begins.
The boardwalk is made up of bamboo trees built with nails and strings. It was quite a challenging walk but good thing that handrails are also built.
I didn’t feel bored nor tired upon walking in the boardwalk because I was entertained by the view, the mangroves and the colourful flags being displayed.
I felt so lucky during my visit because there I saw the most beautiful skies ever since—blue skies, fluffy clouds and the rainbow. That’s why, I didn’t hesitate to take a picturesque view.
After the wondrous 400 meters of walk, we arrived at their floating restaurant. There I discovered that we can also enjoy kayaking and taking a dip in their swimming pens aside from being entertained by the view and their scrumptious foods.
This is a photo of the floating restaurant. The foods they usually serve are Samar’s favourite local cuisines prepared by their friendly and welcoming locals.
This is their restaurant’s counter where you can order or buy some of their products—cooked foods, chips, instant noodles, drinks and their special “halo-halo”.
Here is a photo of their dining tables, ceiling, and more. Their native styles in this area added more freshness during my visit.
This area is another part of the floating restaurant. It is ideal for accommodating larger groups, like families and a bunch of friends. I was in awe by their very soft cushions, very nice and peaceful view and their service.
And remember me mentioning about kayaks and swimming pens earlier? Here they are! I’d recommend you to bring extra clothes, guys! You just can’t resist being wet seeing these!
And there’s the San Juanico bridge I was telling you a while ago. Quite a stupendous view, right? I told you, the 400 meter walk is all worth it!
All in all, my visit here is truly unforgettable. I was able to enjoy, relax and help the locals of Sta. Rita, Samar which are survivors of typhoon Yolanda (Super Typhoon Haiyan) last 2013.
”This project was made possible by the collaborative efforts among: The Provincial Government of Samar, The Municipality of Sta. Rita, ABS-CBN Corporation, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., and the generous contribution of the donors of Sagip Kapamilya.”
So, this ends my story telling here because more of it are some must-keep memories for myself and the people I went here with, so that you’ll discover more when you get to visit here. I hope you enjoyed reading my ULOG, friends! ‘Til next trip and don’t forget to follow me @hannalysis and my photographer @mosheheart here on Steemit!
