Yesterday I attended an orientation-seminar regarding on solid waste management project of our municipality.
It was participated by the Municipal mayor, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Barangay Chairmen, DSWD workers, BFP and PNP representatives, LGU employees, school administrators, teachers, student and pupil representative.

Luckily, Barugo, a 4th class municipality topped in Region VIII
among 114 municipalities performed well on KALAHI-CIDSS implemented projects.
With this, an incentive worth Php 17 million was given to us.
In addition, PRIZE TAG came to reality.

Why TAG?
It's a tripartite involving three agencies agreed to work hand-in-hand for the said project.
It is a collaboration of Local Government Unit, Department of Social Works
and Development, and Eastern Visayas State University.
However, it is an LGU-led project through DSWD.
Engineering matters will be done by EVSU.

The project is based on the Ecological Solid Waste MAnagement Act of 2000
DILG MC No. 2001-19: Implementation of Republic Act 9003.
RA 9003 declares the policy of the state in adopting a systematic, comprehensive and ecological solid waste management program that ensures the protection of public health and the environment and the proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment and disposal of solid waste through the formulation and adoption of best environmental practices.

We do believe that we have MORAL and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY to our ENVIRONMENT.
With this project, we can lessen hopefully zero-out our garbage problem.

"If we cannot recycle it, refuse it.
If we cannot refuse it, recyle it."

This project aims for socially accountable men and women of Barugo.
As what Mayor Ma. Rosario C. Avestruz had said, "Bis hin-o ka pa, pira imo edad, kaparte ka hin pagbabag-o."

Before the morning session ended, we pledged and signed it as a proof that we commit to the challenge our municipality is into.

As what our Municipal Mayor said, "It starts with a simple YES,
coupled with a big COMMITMENT."
