Universal Service Fund awarded the contract of Broadband for Sustainable Development Projects in Balochistan, Pakistan worth Rs 2.769 billion in total to Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone).

Ufone will use the funding for the establishment of 3G services in Dera Bugti, Kharan & Washuk districts of Balochistan, Pakistan.

USF said that more than 500,000 individuals will get telephony & internet services in the locality where there was formerly no means of internet was available to the people.

The Broadband for Sustainable Development project would offer Mobile Broadband Internet/3G services in the yet un-served areas of following areas:

  1. Dera Bugti Lot

    Tehsils of Dera Bugti
    Sui
    Pir Koh
    Baiker
    Loti
    Malam
    Sangsillah

  2. District of Kohlu

    Kohlu
    Mawand
    Kahan tehsils

  3. Kharan-Washuk Lot

    Kharan Tehsils
    Washuk Tehsil
    Besima Tehsil

Ms. Anusha Rehman, Minister for IT & Telecom & Mr. Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister, witnessed the contract signing ceremony between USF & Ufone.
