Dog drew his last breath yesterday i think around 23:00 ... I feared the elders might have croaked before one of their last chances to get to France and back ... its not like they're getting much younger and they're basically stitched together walking dead already for the most part (look who's talking) , i understand in China that would be disrespectful but here i'll take you round the neighbourhood and show you some west-euro drecklands "family life" if you want some perspective in your life ... certainly Disneyland/Americans too ...

Mopped the floor and cleaned the living room, there's like a faint smell of death but it might be the imagination ... smells piney fresh now (or it should)

But we learned a few tricks by now playing taverns of crud ... best game since Dark souls ? (mmmwelll ..... for its 800mb and the fact that its available outside the three Crotter stores i think it deserves a GOTY nomination in at least one or more categories yes)

Depth ... but in all things - where there's system there's ways of using them

stats and all are a bit more clear , the sheer amount of perks and starting combos of callings and other classes is still overwhelming but we get a few things ...

1. get harvesting .. if not on the start of character , get it from Mehmet (tho i prefer not to since it gives a huge faction bump and de-bump with others and no clue how that affects the rest of the game since this is like the very very beginning) or (preferred here) level up with a survivable build for noobs (which we are, right?) and buy it with skillpoints ..

2. explore, for now with this one we only have the tile below Joppa and not even all quadrants, apparently you have nine per tile (NW-N-NE-W-C-E-SW-S-SE) and below the starter town you get mutant pink pumkins and fish that glow in the dark ... the fish drop corpses you can sell and if you have sever limb and axe profession you can cut off tendrils of the plants during a fight too ...

3. Eat vinewafers when dying of thirst ... it sets you at parched .. save the precious fresh water

Its like a metafor of the world of humans, i think as far as 20 years ago i remember warnings about "big cities of the world" being scarce on water - south america with watertrucks - california drying out ... during or past covid even in FRANCE they had to set in trucks to deliver drinking water to the countryside go figure ... (to the countryside of all places ????)

1. Go back to Joppa every so once and eat applemats at the oven, so far you dont need to spend points to get the recipe from Mehmet (you buy that with faction points not with money - MAN THIS GAME IS SO DEEP for an ascii startup)

Then after clearing out about 6 and half of the 9 on the tile south of Joppa , just "grinding" we get a nice bonus there

1 to each attribute ! .. at lvl 3 you get a 1 point which i spent on ego , see :

"ego" is a bit like charisma in d&d (but not completely) but what it does do other than more options with the NPCS is :

better prices : a glowfish corpse at 16 nets 0.35 drams (of fresh water) and after the lvl 6 bonus it nets 0.42 ...

yes, but the thing is , it seems like the merchants are eurotrash, they round the prices so you dont get the copperpieces : if you sell something for 1.95 drams you get 1
if you sell for 2.01 you get 2 ...

hence 3 = 4 if you wait til lvl 6 with this one but since we got harvesting and only eat a wafer when dehydrated (post-apocalypse style)
we havent sold anything yet which means we get more for the remains which (luckily) dont seem to start rotting when in storage (maybe a future patch ...)

Found a nice little zone which seems to be (have been?) the shack of a legendary blacksmith (doesnt seem like he's there anymore)

Just north of Joppa while trying to walk to the stones for the Mehmet quest , but kinda have a bit of a feeling this is a procedural part and it might not be in that place next time (the maps are different but towns like Joppa remain the same as well as the surrounding mobs always seem to be those mutant fish and pumkins and "snapjaw scavengers" a bit further (they'r bipeds, their corpses sell for 0 but sometimes they carry gear which sells for water ... not always tho)
The chest there (one of them at least which we tried there)
doesnt give the "you dont own this" messsage (which is what happens in town and if you do open or take something while a farmer or other sees it the whole town comes after you - which leaves you in a pickle ... an aforementioned pickle one or two posts ago)

So as RPG's go all chests are bottomless so we stacked about a harbour container of loot and corpses in it, as long as we can go by wafers and applemats while we are close to the starting town i see no need to sell and maybe i can up the EGO high enough so a corpse goes for 50 cents ... i dont think they respawn or at least not in the time we been playing this one (which is the longest living so far)

That way we shouldnt be short of water at any time ... which was the biggest obstacle really

other than those chitinpumas that hit way too hard so close to the starting town but thats part of the charm

Man .. i wish i could just go out to the fields here down the road to Mordor (brussels) and hunt me some pumpkins and glowfish and then take them to the local carrefour franchise (like one guy who owns 15 or more stores and employs some minimum wagers with day contracts and gets lauded for "providing work" ... i think these people use different calculators ... its like if you divvy up crotter, the separate HR and similar departments per small corp (or even smaller corps for more) alone instead of "one for the big one" probably nets in the 10.000s (global maybe 100.000s of jobs)

gotta cave early , last morning second cycle got killed and it woke me up at nine, couldnt get back to sleep, by 2(pm) the disintegration started b/c of that ... on top of the usual leg and hip and back and neck pudding scraping cartilage that gets heaveier than usual fast when overstretched and pushed out of the rythm . Sometimes when i walk i like flip through my ankle or knee lately too when i pushed it a bit too far ... its been getting better and better last year. Now we had something that felt like addams poisoning ... somewhere between frontal bladder lumbago and needlecushion intestine infection so nice it gets hard to stand up straight ... so we fell asleep early and woke up early in first cycle - then the drama with the dog ofcourse , the thing was really in pain last night ... i think its probably a blessing he quit, ofcourse to them its like a 17 year old hole in life now.

How people cling on out of self concern, dont wanna let go

cant say much b/c i only called the vet later for the last cat , after all thats a 20 year long hole, the other one before (his mother) died on my lap , got like ill, took about one hour, the vet wouldnt even have made it - still suspect poisoning. Gods know there be molesters in the hood and ofcourse they go for roaming cats more than chained dogs ...

So we'll cave early and if it wakes us up again and we cant fall back asleep the rythm is gonna be completely broken and the fog will start again
