Cheap TV/Monitors up for grabs on ebay
This post is only really going to be of any relevance to people in the UK for a number of reasons including the problems with shipping.
I can be quite entrepreneurial/cheeky when buying stuff. The other day I noticed that a manufacturer called Cello had for sale, but had sold out of new TVs that had no tuners so I contacted them to check if they would have any more in the future. They said they would contact me when any became available.
Now this is of interest to people in the UK as anyone who watches or streams live TV has to pay a license fee and it isn't cheap. Add to that you get constant threatening letters and abusive people knocking on your door. You can just ignore them or tell them to go away but it becomes one of those annoyances. Having a TV with no tuner gets round that f&kta&%d situation. You pair it with an on-demand TV box such as Roku, a firestick or apple tv and you are sweet.
Anyhow the company contacted me and told me they were listing several of these TV/monitors with the following prices -
50 inch - £110
40 inch - £69
32 inch - £60
All with FREE delivery. I doubt they deliver outside the UK.
Now I'd never heard of Cello so who are they? Seems that they are the only TV manufacturer left in the UK and the factory is in County Durham. That's part of the country where there are not a lot of jobs. According to the website they are linked to a charity which hands out food and support to those in sh*t-streets to so they can't be that bad a bunch. It's a family company that was founded 20 something years ago and the founder is still the boss with the daughter doing the marketing. It's pretty old school.
So are there products any good? Well f*&k knows but if something goes wrong it's pretty clear you won't be dealing with a corporate giant - just a local company with a single factory. Note that they are 1080p not 4k screens so they can't compete with the newest of the new.
I bought one. Thought I might share the find. I gain nothing if you buy one. I'm not linked to the company in any way and I don't get a referral from it so if you take the risk, buy one and it goes wrong you have to deal with the company not me.
Incidentally they also have some cheap soda/fizzy water-makers going for £35 which is a fair bit cheaper than other manufacturers
Here's the link Sort by "newly listed" and they should come to the top.
