How to Make Friends on SteemitsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #tutorial7 years ago (edited)

My first few weeks in Steemit were filled with desperation. I followed everyone I could. You can see the proof in the number of people I am following.
I wanted to make the money as fast as possible because I knew what some of friends and ‘ogas’ where making from Steemit. As I ventured on my Steemit journey I found something very significant. I fell in love with Dan Larimers creation. I began to realizes that it is more profitable to do what the platform was created for in the first place which is socialize. So Steemit is going to pay me to Socialize and make friends. Wow!

Now I have a new perspective, a new strategy. Instead of looking for ways to game the platform, I can socialize and curate and create content, I can try to serve my followers.
Today I have a total of 300 followers and I'm very grateful.

If you have taken time to read this post up to this point please comment ‘300+ and counting’ below and I will send you a tip’. Offer valid for the first few people. This is just my way of celebrating my 300+ followers achievement. Resteeming this post can also guarantee that you get the SBD gift.

HOW TO SOCIALIZE IN STEEMIT.

BE FRIENDLY
I know it sounds too obvious but this is important. If you want friends or followers, you have to be friendly. No one wants to follow an a** hole who is just rude abusive or possess whatever unfriendly character.

MAKE GOOD COMMENT
Comment on people's post. Yeah! Care about what people are saying. Don't just say, ‘well done’, or ‘thank you’ or some automated trollish nonsense. Give a good and well thought out comment and you will be rewarded. Some of the people I am currently following are people who made some connection to my work through their comments.

I have noticed another set of people who no matter what I post their comment is always ‘great work’; I don’t know how to get them off my comment box, lol. Commenting on Steemit can also be very rewarding. Do you know that the first person to comment in @craiggrant’s posts usually gets about $1. I have also seen a comment that bagged $42.

REPLY TO COMMENTS
I was chatting with @ogochukwu the other day and this guy told me that someday he has had to cancel a scheduled post so as to respond to comments on his previous post. No wonder he is pretty successful. If someone spends their precious time to read and make a comment on your post, please respond and upvote their comments too.

GIVE
Give and it shall be given unto you(the bible). If you want to make friends in Steemit you are going to have to give. Give your time, give your expertise, give your upvote, comments, e.t.c.
Whatever you are doing must be adding some sort of value to your followers.

FOLLOW ME
I have seem some really funny newbies that will just come to steemit and start writing wonderful articles and hoping that their ‘quality content’ is going to give them followers. I laugh in Chinese. Baby, if you want followers you are going to have to fish for them, you are going to have to follow people too. This is very true if you are not an established blogger or vloger with huge reputation and following. I recommend that if you are not a really good blogger or content creator, your first week on steemit should be for socializing, commenting and making friends. Don’t waste your time creating quality content that no one will see or upvote. If you have a good number of friends on steemit then you will have people to upvote your post even if it is just a picture. I don’t mean you should go around spamming people’s post with ‘follow me I follow you’. Anyway, I’m sure you know what I mean.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Please leave a comment on what has helped you making friends on Steemit and I will upvote or reply.

Thank you for reading.

Its really funny how some newbies behave. Its actually better to focus on making friends and connections than to focus on making lots of money. That way you truely intaract with people and build connections. For instance, i spend much more time in the chatroom than on steemit directly trying to help some newbies mostly in Ghana out on how to go about their daily activities. Steemit is actually a social media and you should socialize. If you fail to socialise, you are definitely not going to make any good amount of impact and money and you will quit when its becoming more interesting. Great post by the way buddy

Congratulations bro, coman share the money.

Steemit is gradually making me to become a better reader and blogger. Increasing my skills

I am hapy to have found your comment at 99 cents and have pushed it up top $1 !!! Congrats on making $1 for just a comment on the internet! keep this up and you'll be a ful time Internet Commenter! XD Isnt steemit amazing? Isnt the WORLD amazing now? The world just got more inclusive! That Smartphon and mobile internet wasa GREAT investment! COmputyrs ALWAYS make a good investment even if you dont se a use for them at first there will ALWAYS be something a computer will help you with especially nowadays!

Contrary to the laws of physics and kitchen craft, only in comments is "Well Done" Half-Baked -- sorry, I just could NOT Resist. However, that being said, I generally agree with the sentiment expressed.

Real commentary requires thought, and, horror-of-horrors, that socially repugnant 4-letter word: "Work".

If one treats life as some kind of first person accumulator video game; then "making your numbers" might make some kind of sense. On the other hand, approaching commentary as an opportunity to interact with others and, through mutual attempts to entertain mind expanding thoughts and ideas, then all will benefit far beyond mere financial gain.

Anyhow, these are my thoughts and, BTW, since I did NOT do it for the money; please feel free [no pun intended] to give any tips to others as I am sure most will be more worthy than I.

Thanks for reading bro

NICE another 99 cent comment i found and i will finish the work of @infovore and upvote it with one more penny so @carlstreet can have a full $1 for his comment! doesntity fel AMAZINg to make 41 off a comment on the internet?!?! Keep this up and it can be your fulltime job XD Its funny because its true!

The key is socializing and exchanging information. You don't need to have too many blogs to earn good money here. People also like to see interesting or entertaining content and that's what will help you grow in Steemit.

Yeah thanks
Thanks for commenting
