Assassination attempt.

I can’t say that I’d weep very much if Donald Trump abruptly died on natural causes. But I hope he is not assassinated. That would be bad. The last thing we need is for Trump to be a martyr.

Trump’s voter base would be enraged. I would imagine that some of them would start shooting at Democrats to get revenge. They’d reason they didn’t start it. They’d see what they’re doing as a fight for liberty. I don’t think it’s a question of whether this would happen, but rather how widespread it would be.

Other Republican politicians would be able to make quite a lot of bad use of that rage. I’m sure that there are politicians who have thought this through as a contingency, and know what their next maneuvers would be.
