Mission to Mars?

Donald Trump would like you to know that if you vote for him, he and Musk will launch a manned mission to Mars in the next 4 years.

I would like you to know that it’s not possible to have a project of that scale ready for the 2026 Earth/Mars launch window and it’s exceedingly unlikely to be possible in the 2028/2029 launch window.

(My claims above assume that the goal of such a mission would be to put still-living humans on Mars and keep them alive long enough to make the return trip. Corpses on Mars we can do now)
