Naheed Akhtar, the singer from the past whose voice still enchants the ears today, is a renowned playback singer from Pakistan. She sang her first song for Radio Pakistan Multan in 1970 and went on to record numerous songs in Urdu and Punjabi for films and dramas. She retired from singing in 1992 to lead a domestic life. In 2007, she was awarded the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance. She received Nigar Film Awards in 1974, 1975, and 1985. Naheed Akhtar, who stirred the film industry with her melodious voice in the 1970s and 1980s, was born in Multan.

To fulfill her childhood passion for singing, she began her career with Radio Pakistan. In the 1970s, film musician M. Ashraf discovered her, and thus her film career began. Naheed Akhtar sang many memorable songs not only for Urdu but also for Punjabi films. Her voice is considered the most popular after Madam Noor Jehan. In the 1970s and 1980s, she was the most popular playback singer in the Pakistani film industry. Many films became hits due to her voice.

She was honored with multiple Nigar Awards for her outstanding contributions to the film industry. In 2007, she received the Presidential Medal for Pride of Performance. In 1992, Naheed Akhtar suddenly bid farewell to singing and chose a private life. She married renowned journalist Asif Ali Pota, and after his death, she distanced herself further from public life. Naheed Akhtar is rarely seen in media and public events these days and is living a private life. She has recently appeared after a long time.
