Do What Works For You
Earlier today I wrote a post titled "Do What You Love to Do" and I had some follow-up thoughts that are relevant to the idea, so here's a follow-up to that post.
Doing what you love to do, as I mentioned in the previous post, isn't as easy as it seems.
Some people think that it's really easy to identify what you love in life, but I think it's much harder than a simple identification.
Finding what you love requires a lot of steps. Some steps, you'll be aware of and some steps you won't be aware of but will take them anyway.
Life is all about choices. Each choice leads to a unique circumstance which leads to yet another choice and yet another circumstance.
That's what makes life so interesting: we really don't know what's going to happen tomorrow as there are 7+ billion people on this planet who are all making choices and taking actions that affect the planet - albeit, most of these actions will affect the planet in a very small way.
If you don't know what you love to do yet, don't stress out about it.
Over the past several years, I've stressed many times about finding my true passion in life.
I've felt social pressures and internal pressures to find a "career" or find some passion and turn it into a full-time, livable income.
These pressures can weigh you down and I highly recommend that you shift your thinking away from them. Realize that social pressures are unfounded - other peoples' opinions do not matter.
Your own opinion is what matters. Your own feelings are what matter.
If you don't know what you love to do yet, then just do what works for you - do what makes you happy in the moment and also makes sense in the long-term.
If you love to swim, then swim regularly - it's good for your emotions, intellect and your overall well-being...
The same goes for anything else that you love to do in life - don't be afraid to just be you and do what works for you. Too many people are afraid of social pressures and that's just a bad way of living life.
What have you always wanted to do, but felt that you had to live up to too many social pressures to do it? Will you take a shot and do it anyways?
Finding what you love and what fills your life is not easy at all, but there's always a way. A moment ago I wrote a post where I talk about the Ikigai, which is a japanese word for the reason to get up every morning or the reason to live. So, according to the millenary culture of Japan we all have an Ikigai that will bring light and sense to our lives, we just gotta find it.
(Sorry for my bad English jajaja)
As a result of my illness, I learned that the most important thing is simply to live life, that good times are the best inheritance we leave on this earth.
I agree! The good times are the staple of the good life itself!
