Some weeks ago my girlfriend and I decided to visit Emilia Romagna: this is an area in the center of Italy where the spring is beautiful and the cities are awesome. Great History behind the buildings and an amazing food traditions are typical of all of these places: bigger and smaller ones. However this region is huge and we decided to dedicate a day in a specific city: we selected Ferrara. I had never visited this town before, even if I went in other place near to it.
Ferrara is placed almost at the end of Po river and in the middle on Pianura Padana, a flat land, where there are not hills or mountains at all. Here the best vehicle is the bicycle, because it is the most environmentally friendly and the faster to move from one point in the city to another.

Alcune settimane fa la mia fidanzata ed io abbiamo deciso di visitare l'Emilia Romagna: questa è una regione nel centro Italia, dove la primavera è bella e le città sono spettacolari. La grande Storia dietro ogni edificio ed un favoloso cibo ricco di tradizioni sono aspetti tipici di questi luoghi: da quelli più grandi a quelli più piccoli. Ad ogni modo questa regione è immensa ed abbiamo scelto di dedicare una giornata ad una specifica città: abbiamo optato per Ferrara. Non avevo mai visitato questo luogo prima, anche se ero stato in altri posti lì vicino.
Ferrara è localizzata quasi alla fine del fiume Po ed al centro della Pianura Padana, una distasa pianeggiante, dove sono assolutamente assenti colline e montagne. Qui il miglior veicolo è la bicicletta, perché è il più ecologico ed il più veloce per spostarsi da un punto all'altro della città.
The History of Ferrara is really old and the greatest buildings there remind to everybody how much big and important was the power of Este family: in the previous photos you can see the city hall. A great structure that was also a defensive place: from the tower there was the possibility to see enemies coming from far away. Inside instead important decision were taken and there the future of the reign was decided. Este dominated this area during Renaissance period and inside of the city walls they built famous structure like the castle and the cathedral.
La Storia di Ferrara è veramente antica e gli edifici più imponenti qui ricordano a chiunque quanto fosse grande ed importante fosse il potere della famiglia Este: nelle precedenti foto potete vedere il municipio. Una grande struttura che aveva anche il ruolo di difesa: dalla torre c'era la possibilità di avvistare i nemici che arrivavano da molto lontano. All'interno invece venivano prese impotanti decisioni e lì veniva deciso il futuro del regno. Gli Este dominarono questa area nel periodo del rinascimento e all'interno delle mura della città costruirono famose strutture come il castello e la cattedrale.

Qui la mia fidanzata vicino al fossato del castello: un importante limite difensivo contro i nemici che non avevano possibilità di superare l'acqua e prendere il controllo dell'edificio.

These are great and amazing sculptures that underline the great manufacturing traditions that there were in this area. Unfortunelly when we went in Ferrara, the cathedral was closed.
However we enjoyed to walk in the streets of Ferrara where we could breathe quietness and a beautiful spring.

Queste sono grandi e splendide sculture che sottolineano la grande tradizione artigiana che c'è in quest'area. Sfortunatamente quando visitammo Ferrara, il Duomo era chiuso.
Comunque abbiamo avuto il piacere di passeggiare per le strade della città, dove è possibile respirare tranquillità e una splendida primavera.

I love this kind of city where the travel gives to me the opportunity to meet the History of another area with similar traditions, but different ones at the same time. We discovered a lot of things, reading also behind a statue: here you can see a statue of Girolamo Savonarola who was an important historical character. He was born in Ferrara and in other cities he became the most famous Dominical friar for his inquisitor role in the Church.
Amo questo tipo di città dove il viaggio mi trasmette l'opportunità di incontrare la Storia di un'altra regione con simili tradizioni, ma diverse allo stesso tempo. Abbiamo scoperto molte cose, leggendo anche sotto alla statua di Girolamo Savonarola, il quale fu un importante personaggio storico. Era nato a Ferrara ed in altre città divenne un frate domenicano molto famoso per il suo ruolo di inquisitore nella Chiesa.
This lands are really famous for their food too and maybe during the next days I could write also a review of some restaurants where we ate good typical dishes. Italy is a unique State, where the cousin of the North is completely different from the South one.

Queste terre sono veramente famose anche per il loro cibo e forse nei prossimi giorni potrei anche scrivere una recensione di alcuni ristoranti dove mangiammo piatti tipici. L'Italia è un Paese unico, dove la cucinadel nord è completamente diversa da quella del sud.
