Pokemon Cards' Origin

The origin of Pokemon cards can be traced back to Japan in the mid-1990s. In 1996, the first set of Pokemon trading cards was released by the Japanese company Media Factory, featuring the initial 151 Pokemon from the original video game series. The cards were an instant success and soon became a phenomenon in Japan.

In 1998, the Pokemon trading card game was introduced to the United States by the game company Wizards of the Coast. The game was an instant hit and quickly became one of the most popular trading card games in the world. The first set of English-language cards featured the same 151 Pokemon as the Japanese version, but with some slight changes to the artwork and card design.

Since then, the Pokemon trading card game has grown in popularity and has expanded to include new sets of cards featuring new Pokemon from the various video game series, as well as cards featuring characters and elements from the Pokemon anime and manga. The game has also been translated into multiple languages and has become a global phenomenon enjoyed by fans of all ages.
