RE: Just another day on Steemit, why I feel helpless.
I may have gotten myself in trouble tonight. Sorta lost my internal "don't say that" guy. :P Hopefully my rep doesn't suffer to much.

For promoting Curie? I don't know how this could have any negative consequences for you rep? It should be the other way around :-)
Nope, for all the other stuff I said. I'm sure you will see at least some of it. Part of it was defending you in a post, others was just calling out those with a lot of SP who are abusing it in my opinion. :) hopefully I'm not clobbered come morning.
What is wrong with having an opinion, especially if you are pro good/quality content and against abuse? :-) Thanks for your support though. The only thing you need to know when entering controversial debate is that you're part of the crossfire and may suffer from side effects such as flags, people calling you names etc. As long as you know to (mentally) handle this, everything is alright. I recommend surfing or other type of outdoor sports to balance stress :-D Am on my way to the Swiss mountains now for skiing... see you soon!
Are you familiar with the ancient Greek saying, "know thyself?" Well, I spent the vast majority of my adult life watching and pondering my actions, thoughts, and intentions, I know the good and likewise the evil I am capable of. While a volley of flags could certainly have an effect on my voice here on this platform, I have little concern for the name calling of individuals who likely, have not spent ten minutes in self reflection. It would be like a seasoned painter giving mindfulness to a three year old calling her work stupid. For perhaps in the three year old's head it is stupid, but they know nothing of art. Likewise are the attacks of an untrained and nonobservant mind.
I think indeed, this is also part of the problem: the "normal users" just want to blog and find some friends or even fans who support them. We're sometimes kind of "too respectful". We are also allowed to have an opinion. But of corse most of us don't want to be in a fight all day. Nice seeing you here, still have to read all your replies from yesterday.^^ This is all so much! The comments on this post here!
I'm afraid the time of me holding my tongue, is coming to an end. I would rather burn my account to the ground, speaking truth to injustice, than complacently capitulate to the will of the rich. If this causes mortal wounds to my account, I would rather suffer them now, while I have little invested. For this battle is inevitable. Would I even be willing to fight, if I had thousands of hours invested in it? For I could not bear to stand by and watch the beauty and potential this platform offers, slowly erode away, without my attempting to stop it.
So I will unsheathe my sword, as humble and pathetic as it may be and begin to strike at the root. Perhaps others will join me, and we may chop down the proverbial "bean stock" before the evil giants have free reign of our villages.
That's why @surfermarly is doing a great job. She has her reputation here. And she did it just with her content. She could easily lean back. But she doesn't. But I also couldn't blame her for having enough of it. There is a live beyond Steemit.
I'm personally very thankful for the actions of @surfermarly and all the other bigger names who are speaking of these issues. I'm also thankful for you speaking on them. I would have never found out about this had you not mentioned it. I have very little time to spend on Steemit, and it's rare that I will waste it looking at the trending page. Just a bunch of rubbish these days.
