#treetuesday - Tree Bark and Bristlecone Pine
My thank you card had a little hand-drawn picture of tree bark "Because you like trees." My foster daughter was leaving for the next stage in her life after a happy two year placement.
The big things she remembers are breaking five light bulbs in a row, oh, and the shower fitting 😂. The big things I remember are how incredibly plucky she is, and her striding into the house after four days camping and hiking, with a rucksack as big as she was, indignant that she had had to wait for a taxi home from school for an hour (it was a friday night).
She's gone off now, happy, confident, and looking forward to the long golden summer that you only get between finishing school and starting University. I'm still waiting to hear that she's arrived at her summer destination safely.
I do like trees, it's true. This tree impresses me with 'its' pluckiness. It's a Bristlecone Pine. Only grows in the most inhospitable places. Some of them are 10,000 years old. Can that be right? This one lives in luxury in a human constructed limestone garden around the corner.
The very old, the very young setting out in life, the beauty all around us, natural and of our own creation. Tree Tuesday.
I enjoyed reading your post @shanibeer... As you probably know I'm also keen on trees- and always forget 'Tree Tuesday' tag... 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed the post - and I see you've posted yourself 😊
This has been a sweet read.. I wonder for your heart though. It must be very difficult to work with these little humans and then send them off- how do you handle it?
Thank you, that's kind. Well, you learn how to look after yourself as well as them. I'm taking some rest time now.
Well earned. Blessings to you @shanibeer
That is a sweet note and a great tree drawing. Prayers that your foster daughter does well.
She was a joy to have around. Thank you for your prayers.
I bet you're just the greatest foster mum in the whole world and thanks for introducing me to #treetuesday :-)
....and you take the mick out of my train fetish ? lol ;-)
Thank you 😊 You must bring us some new specimens from Thailand. As you see, I am interested in bark 😎
