Brunner : tiny but charming flowers
It can be hard to find plants that keep a shady flowerbed looking good all season. Brunnera is a good choice. This article covers everything about this plant. Learn about planting, growing, and caring for it.
Brunnera is a medium-sized plant that comes back every year. It is part of the Borage family. This flower grows in Siberia and parts of Asia. It is named after the explorer S. Brunner. People often call it forget-me-not.
Gardeners like to use it in mixed flower beds and gardens. Brunnera grows into a bush about 40-50 cm tall. Its leaves are large and heart-shaped. They grow on long stems.
The stems bend a little, making the plant look soft. Most brunnera plants have plain, dark green leaves. Some types have leaves with silver ("Emerald Mist," "Heart of the Sea," "Langtrees," "Silver Wings"), white ("Silver Heart"), or yellow ("Diana Gold," "Giordano Gold," "Hudspen Cream," "Kings Ransom") markings. The flowers are very small, less than 1 cm across.
They look like forget-me-nots. But brunnera flowers have a white spot in the center, not yellow.
