Heard of the Bonsai Tree??
Bonsai means “Tray Planting”. It is an art of cultivating miniature (tiny) trees in small containers while mimicking the shape and size of a full-grown trees. It originally started in Chinese tradition, however Bonsai is a Japanese term and Japanese are the popular cultivator in the modern time. Bonsai trees are cultivated mainly for their aesthetic purpose and the ingenuity of cultivator. The bonsai culture dates back to thousand years and is still very popular in Japanese culture, and it is gaining momentum around the world.

Bonsai trees can be grown using seeds or small tree of all types of Perennial trees and shrubs, most commonly used seeds or trees are Pine, Juniper, and Cherry trees. These young trees are taken care intensively and under controlled growth by using cultivation techniques like pruning, root reduction, defoliation, potting, and grafting to produce miniature Bonsai trees that mimic the form and magnificence of mature, life-size trees.

Some of the oldest Bonsai trees present are amazing to see, and the care needed to produce trees of such exceptional quality is inspiring. Some of the champion trees are over 200 years old and have been cared for, perfectly, for 8 generations. Such trees are works of living art and are treated as national treasures in Japan and around the world. Japan is still the main cultivtor of Bonsai trees and there are many famous Bonsai nurseries like Bonsai Village in Omiya.

The Primary Features of a Bonsai tree are:

  1. Very small in height (3 to 10 inches at ) compared to a full grown tree of the same species.
  2. They are painstakingly cultivated with intensive care and expertise in Bonsai cultivating techniques.
  3. Bonsai trees are always potted in any shape and size trays.
  4. Bonsai trees look aesthetically pleasing and take years and years of care and love for the plant.

There is 3 main classification of Bonsai based on their size.

  1. Miniature Bonsai trees.
    It varies from 1 to 3 inches.

  2. Medium Bonsai trees.
    Their size varies from 10 to 24 inches in height.

  3. Large Bonsai Trees
    This type of bonsai trees is the largest, grown up to a height between 30 to 80 inches.

Since Bonsai art and culture has gained much popularity and appreciation, people around the world have started to cultivate Bonsai trees, and many seeds have been produced and distributed around the world. Many industries have started cultivating the bonsai seeds and marketing it. Recently Igrowinge bought Juniper seed from an online store called Ali Express and I am going to try growing my own Bonsai trees. I hope I can grow it into a full miniature tree 😊 .

The main requirement of stringing bonsai is triangle shape. Establishing this triangle takes time and full patience

What will be the cost of a Bonsai tree?

@briraj there is no exact price of a bonsai tree, full grown bonsai tree can cost you huge as they are very expensive. But i would like to share about my recent purchase of a juniper bonsai tree seed. It just cost me 1 USD from an online store called Ali Express. I dont know if the seed would grow perfectly but one thing is sure, its the technique and dedication of growing a bonsai that will determine how it would turn up. Hope this helps. Just want to know where you found you facts as there are a few of them that might be a bit far from the truth.

Thank you for your concern @romanolsamuels, I gathered the information from Wikipedia and some of my personal account from seeing it up close . Feel free to correct me on those facts which i have mistaken. I would love to share the correct information to out Steemit community. You are very welcome to share the right information and facts.

The word bonsai is translated wrong. Bon means container( pot, tray, stone or slab) aslong as ther ia an relationship between the two and sai means plant.

Then the first part of you primary features you refer to small size with specific dimensions as a reference. It should rather just be a smaller version as the one found in nature. Bonsai range from 5cm to a 1,2 m and morerange. There are bigger one out there the imperial bonsai.

These are just my inputs but as most of these thingss are translated from other languages alot gets lost in translation.
