The Country of the lions and islands or the Republic of Singapore
I suggest you continue your acquaintance with Southeast Asia. With history, culture, puzzles. And today the topic of our discussion is the Lion Country - Republic of Singapore!
Traveling to Singapore took a special place in my treasury. There are many reasons for this. First, every journey has become a treasure, for it is full of emotions, adventure memories! Secondly, Singapore is on my Bucket list. And third, this trip is a small gift for himself to honor the completion of student life in Korea.
Of course, it is better and more profitable to travel to Southeast Asia when you live in Asia. Although, it is not always possible to get out of habitat or difficult to get out. So, Singapore is the first country in Southeast Asia, which I visited for 5 years in South Korea. Why almost the first? Because the first is Malaysia, which is the first point in my route.
And this is not a coincidence. I'll explain why ... To visit Singapore you need a tourist visa. BUT! There is one small BUT, which we use with friends. If you are visiting Singapore in transit, then you do not need a visa. That is, if you come to Singapore from country A, and leave it, go to country B, then you can not bother with the visa problem. The main thing is to have time to see the city for 96 hours.
Singapore's beautiful capital city is the lion city, this is how the word "Singapore" is translated from Sanskrit. Yes, Singapore is the capital of Singapore. It is difficult to say what region Singapore is occupied, as the country's territory continues to rise, thanks to the artificial islands created. By the way, today there are 63 islands that make up the territory of Singapore. One of the largest islands is the capital - Singapore.
Unlike many countries in Southeast Asia, almost everyone in Singapore is fluent in English, as it is official here, such as Chinese and Malay. Therefore, tourists here are relatively comfortable. I remember when I came to Korea, there was a problem with communication, because at that time in Korea very few speak English, and even more, very few people understand it. Although the reserves of English words among Koreans are still pretty good. Simply put, the whole problem in practice.
I visited two islands of Singapore: in the capital and on the island of Sentosa.
First, I will say a few words about Sentosa Island. The island is magical. Ideal for a rest on the beach. The beach is clean and the Indian Ocean is warm. Along the beach there is a bar counter with good music. The warm sun warms the glow 12 months a year. What could be better ?! In addition, the island has its own resort and a small shopping center. But the island's main attraction is the world-renowned Universal Amusement Park. So the kids here will not get bored. Although, in fact, the park does not evaporate and adults.
Well, now back to the capital. From Sentosa island to the capital for 5 minutes drive is driven by cable. Everything is very simple and easy.
It's hard to say what I like and I remember best. So I will start in sequence. I have heard a lot about Singapore Zoo, so I have it in the top list of places I want to visit. And not in vain. Despite the fact that I do not support the imprisonment of the poor animals in open cages, from Singapore zoo I feel happy. Here the cage is so big it's barely visible, and it seems you're walking around the park with animals. The same zoo is huge. We spent most of the day there. We watched the night show and went home. Yes, at night at the zoo there are different shows and performances.
Singapore is surprising with its architecture. For example, the construction of a scientific museum. From the outside, I would never have thought that it was a scientific museum. Somewhat theater or cultural center, or just a monument. And it turned out to be a scientific museum. Or let's remember the world-famous Marina Bay Sands hotel with a boat on the roof. The hotel is very charming when you are wearing a bathing suit with a cocktail in your hand enjoying the cold water in the pool on the roof of the hotel and you see the city stretching in sight!
Strange designs stand out and source of wealth. In the daytime the fountain is not very interesting. Large metal rings in several columns. But then, at night, when the light music starts and the fountain splashed into the melody rhythm, it was an amazing sight.
At night, I highly recommend you to visit the Super Tree Grove in the Garden of the Wonder Garden Garden, which occupies 100 acres of Singapore and consists of 3 garden. So, in principle, if you love nature and botanical gardens, then Garden by the Bay can be a place where you will spend another day of your journey. Unfortunately, we did not have much time, so we managed to walk just between the big trees, feeling like Liliput in a giant country.
In Singapore, the highest Ferris wheel is built, reaching 165 meters high! To visit Singapore and not to sit inside the capsule to climb and see the whole city as in the palm of your hand is not possible.
And finally, I will share with you a legend about a mystical animal with a lion's head and a trunk of fish - about Merlion. Legend has it that this mystical beast, with its gaze, wiped out all enemies and enemies of Singapore. And with the bad weather in the ocean, he came out of the water to help the locals again. Therefore, throughout Singapore there are these amazing animal sculptures.
In Singapore, it is best to travel in winter. Not hot, not stuffy, but perfect - perfect sunbathing and enjoying a walk around town.
