Alley of famous people in Burgas
In the Seaside Park of Burgas there is an alley of famous people. The busts of the national heroes of Bulgaria are located around the fountain, to which four alleys lead. It is very spacious here, you can sit comfortably for rest on the numerous benches, and then walk along the avenue and peer into the faces of the characters. On the pedestals are indicated only the dates of life and death of these people, each of whom has made a huge contribution to the history of the country. Therefore, having rummaged on the Internet and in the blog of Variy Davydova, I wrote a little about each of them.
Vasil Levski (1837-1873) - a national hero, whom the Bulgarians call the “Apostle of Freedom”. Politician, revolutionary, member of the national liberation movement from the Ottoman Empire. He was captured by the Turks and sentenced to death by the Ottoman court.
Hristo Botev (1848-1876) is the first Bulgarian socialist. Poet, revolutionary and national hero. Botev died from a bullet of a Turkish sniper in a battle on Mount Vratsa, and two years after his death, the country gained independence. Botev is not only a national Bulgarian hero, but also a famous poet, whose poems are translated into many languages of the world. Some poems were set to music and became folk songs. During the Second World War, the name of the poet in Bulgaria became a symbol of the anti-fascist struggle, and the Bulgarian patriots sang a song to his words “Who for freedom did not die ...” before the execution.
Georgy Rakovski (1821-1867) was a revolutionary, one of the organizers of the national liberation movement against Turkish domination, a historian, ethnographer, poet, writer and publicist. He created a secret society in Athens to prepare an armed uprising in Greece and Bulgaria when he was only 20 years old. Rakovski was an extraordinary and passionate poet, published newspapers and carried out the ideas of fraternal solidarity of the Balkan peoples in the struggle for their liberation. He died from a long illness.
Haji Dimitar (1840-1868) is a national hero, haiduk, revolutionary, voivode, participant in the national liberation struggle of the Bulgarian people against the Ottoman yoke. During the command of the rebel detachment, was surrounded and defeated by the Turks, was seriously wounded and killed.
Stefan Karadzha (1840-1868) - a national hero, a revolutionary, a member of the national liberation movement in Bulgaria and Romania, a prominent leader of the uprising against the Ottoman Empire, the Haiduk voivode. He was captured when the partisan detachment he led was defeated by Ottoman troops. Sentenced to death, but died earlier from wounds.
Lyuben Karavelov (1834-1879) - the first Bulgarian professional writer, a major figure of the Bulgarian national revival. The publisher of several newspapers and magazines. Democrat by conviction, Karavelov - the author of numerous articles, poems and short stories. His masterpiece is his story "Bulgaria of the Past" (1872), in which he described the state of the society of that time and his heroes. The stories “Bulgaria of the Past” and “Mom's Child” are considered the first original Bulgarian novels.
Dobri Chintulov (1822-1886) - poet, composer, teacher. He played for the national independence of Bulgaria. The author of the revolutionary-romantic poems, imbued with the ideas of patriotism and freedom. The poems of Chintulova are written in a lively folk language, and some of them have become folk songs.

In any city in Bulgaria, the names of these national heroes are named after the streets, institutions, and monuments. They are remembered and studied the history of life and struggle. In Bulgaria there are national holidays, in which they especially celebrate their heroes.
The day of the liberation of Bulgaria, which is celebrated on March 3. One of the most important national holidays, dedicated to the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke, which enslaved the country for six centuries - from the XIV to the XIX century.
The day of unification of Bulgaria. The holiday is celebrated on September 6 - on that day in 1885, an uprising began in one of the parts of Bulgaria.
Thanks to all who read, who are interested in learning a little about the history and heroes of Bulgaria.
