Khardung la, Highest motorable road of the world

in #travelfeed4 years ago

In my today’s blog, I want to take you guys to the khardungla pass. Khardung la is the highest motorable road of India, at an altitude of 18000 ft. It connects Nubra valley and Leh Ladakh and serves as a mountain pass between them. The road is a real attraction among bikers as it gives you the achievement of being on the highest road on the world.

As we reach towards more altitude, we can see snow all around us. The roads, mountains all covering with snow, like a white blanket. When we were about to reach on the top, we sensed some snow flakes on the mirror of the car, and we realized, snowfall has started and we couldn’t control our excitement. Because it was like a dream came true. I have been waiting for this moment all my life and even more from my last trekking trips. Immediately, we asked our driver to take the car for hault, because we didnt want to miss any moment of it. When the little puffs of snow touches you, that’s like the best feeling ever. We started playing with snow, making snow balls and throwing at each other, writing names and eating with our mouths open towards the sky, fully enjoying that so much awaited moment. There was so much snow that half of our legs almost sank in it.

Suggestion to readers
The snow at the time was fresh, which made it so slippery and it became so risky to drive the car with bare tyres on that road. But as we hired a taxi in Ladakh only, so the driver being a ladakhian was aware of this, and he tied chains on the back tyres of the car to keep it moving. There were other tourists also, who came on their own, and got stuck there, as they were unaware of this thing. So, it is highly recommended, whosoever is planning to travel here by their own vehicle, to surely contact any localite before going there.
