Introduction
Welcome to the Travel Digest #146 edition of #traveldigest! Enjoy!
As always all posts featured here will be put on our Editors Choice Map.
Hi, it's @livinguktaiwan here. I just want to let everyone know that our Steemitworldmap server has been down for most of the day and we're looking into it right now. If you've posted onto the map and haven't received an auto comment from us, you should get one as soon as our server is back up. Fingers crossed that shouldn't take too long. With that in mind, the Travel Digest today will be quite a short one.

#1 Los Angeles - A walk along Abbot Kinney Blvd - Art, Shops and more
Our first featured post today is from @justdentist who visits the Abbott Kinney Boulevard in LA. As one would expect in LA, you would bump into celebrities and that's what happened to @justdentist who peed next to John Stamos in the restaurant bathroom. He didn't actually know who John Stamos is (I didn't either, I had to google him) until he saw lots of girls coming up for photos and autographs afterwards. The Boulevard is named after a 19th century millionaire who like Venice so much that he built his own Venice in America. If you want to find out more about this crazy street lined with funky art, unique shops and restaurants, be sure to check out his post.

#2 Touring the Vibrant Streets of New Orleans
From LA to New Orleans, @josiahthomas does a stopover here on his way from Texas to Florida. With just a day to explore the city he manages to pack quite a lot in. First was St. Louis Cathedral, where he was blown away by the architecture, whilst outside the cathedral, it was buzzling with artists, street performers and buskers. He spent a lot of time wandering around the French Quarter, sometimes that the best way to explore a new city and see what you bump into. Sure enough, he discovered a unique vibe of the city, voodoo (yes!!) and beignets which are deep friend pastry with loads and loads of powdered sugar (or icing sugar as us Brits calls it). Not exactly the healthiest food but if you're a vegetarian and its famous, then why not?

Our last featured post today is from @natubat, an experience mountaineer who went mountain climbing in Scotland with her friend. She starts climbing Meall Corranaich at 550m but still has to ascend another 519m to get to the top! The first 300m of the ascend was relatively easy, walking on thin crisp ice, then she encounters thicker snow and has to cross a broad gully. The views, once she gets to the top of the summit is absolutely stunning. @natubat isn't the only one climbing that day as she comes across another group who were clearly ill prepared for the snowy conditions. Good preparation is vital to climb the Scottish mountains, but sometimes that isn't sufficient as anything can happen once you get up there. That is sadly what @natubat found out about a friend as she was writing her post.
