White Point Royal Palms Beach Park (photos)... no waterfalls today :/
White Point Royal Palms Beach Park in San Pedro, CA
on a lazy Saturday....
In the distance is the road (Kay Fiorentino Dr) you can drive down if you're willing to pay for parking. Today was $10 but it's cheaper on weekdays. You could just park above if you feel like hiking. I probably would have hiked it if the weather had been cooler.
At the bottom of the driveway, if you turn right (northwest), there is a very easy-to-walk-on paved path with a whole bunch of beautiful palm trees and also some picnic benches. I just wish the path was longer.
That's a weird-looking squirrel, right?
In the opposite direction, if you turn left (southeast), that will lead you to the tide pools. Today I got there shortly before low-tide, so it was not as pretty as the first time I was there.
Low-tide is great if you want to check out the actual tide pools, but when the tide is higher, the water hits those rocks and creates a whole bunch of little waterfalls. Will have to plan better next time and check the tide schedule..
What I was hoping to see again was this:
(I took this pic back in February)
And if you keep walking to the left you'll see this
When you get tired of the scenery down there, you can drive or hike back up the hill and check out White Point Park and White Point Preserve.
