How we traveled to Suzdal - one of the oldiest towns in Russia.

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Several days ago we made a trip with my wife to Suzdal. It's one of the oldest and picturesque towns in Russia dating back to early in the 11th century. The population of the town is around 10 000 citizens. And several thousands of tourists come there every day.

Suzdal's kremlin is grandfather of Moscow's Kremlin.

Gates in kremlin:

Suzdal is 220 km away from Moscow. So if you decide to use a car it will take you approximately 5 hours (thanks to traffic jam and speed limits). The better way to use a train from Moscow to Vladimir ( approx 2 hours) and taxi from Vladimir to Suzdal.

When you finally come to Suzdal you'll understand that it's worth all your time spent on the long trip. you can feel an old Russian spirit on the streets and in old churches and monasteries.

There are many hotels and restaurants there so you'll never have problems with it.The transport to use in Suzdal is your foot :) Town is small and you'll combine site seeing with fitness. I stepped a little bit more than 20 000 steps during the day.

We've been to Suzdal several times but this time, we have found something new.  We rented a small catamaran and made a petite trip on the river.Everything we saw before showed us their other sides of the coin.

And we found some new gems in Suzdal.

And we found some new gems on the river  :))

Several times we saw white lotus in the river. I thought you can find lotus only in Asia.

Some tourists use boat. But it not so interesting like catamaran for only two people.

It looks like bridges in Suzdal were constructed many centures ago. And it's a part of town's atmosphere

Old  Saviour Monastery of St Euthymius from the river:

And, of course, you can catch Suzdal's Pokemon here :)))

Welcome to Suzdal. Welcome to Russia.
