Motorcycle travel series by @velimir 'Zagorje' (Part #174)
The uprising started mainly because of this guy. Franjo Tahy was a Hungarian lord who entered history books only for treating his subjugates badly and cruelly. A real asshole. The event striking the match of the rebellion was him raising the peasant's taxes so unreasonably high that they couldn't pay. Sounds familiar? Peasants complained to the Emperor and the Duke but to no avail. Put to corner with no way out, they marched against noblemen's homes.
As soon as the nobles got the news of peasants marching, they moved away from their meal, stood up from their fine crafted chairs, put on their shiny expensive armour, left their heated mansions, mounted their carefully bred war horses and marched out their armies.
Their weapons were made of the finest steel one could find in those days. Just like the canons, fine swords were made in Austria in those days.
Soon after the second noblemen army arrived at the battlefield on the final day, the battle turned out to be to what it was doomed from the beginning. A slaughterhouse event full of poor dead people but with significant losses from the noblemen's side, as well.
As I already mentioned, the fate of Matija Gubec, the leader of the rebellion was sealed the second he gathered his peasant army under the old linden tree which still lives nearby. He was publicly tortured and never received the mercy of a quick death like the fellow in the picture.
Most of the problems, these poor peasants had, aren't gone in today's world. They are only disguised way, way better. Hopefully crypto changes that soon.
Enjoy your day!

hi @velimir.
Well, i am from Pakistan and our Prime Minister was listed in Panama Leaks ( if u know what i am talking about ). His name is MIAN MUHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF. Talking about assholes, he is the biggest asshole amongst a long march of assholes in here in Pakistan. The difference between Franjo Tahy and our scumbag PM is the era and time they were in, I mean to say both did the same thing to their public.
Both were cruel in their own way.
Franjo Tahy rose the taxes so high that, peasants were not able to pay.
In our (Pakistani) case, our PM rose the taxes so high that we are hardly able to pay it and yeah he is a very corrupt ASSHOLE as well.
So the thing is that times have changed considerbly but there still comes a corrupt, evil, cruel and unjust ruler along.
The impaled man looks so sullen and had a defeated look. Great work of art.
So thankful to live in peaceful countries, such a shame we can't have more peace in the world. #loveisthecuretoallthehate
Which place have you been to for those pictures?
Croatia, Oršić mansion in Zagorje.
thanks :) I guess one day I gotta get my bike down to croatia as well but luckily I´ll know whom to ask by then ;)
Stories like these are often omitted from the media. Glad you shared this. WIsh this world could be a more peaceful and friendly place. We can all learn to be more tolerant, accepting.
