WALKING VILLA (in Turkey)

When Atatürk goes to the farm one day, Villa's meets a gardener who is trying to cut branches of "Great Plane Tree" tree next to him. He immediately calls the gardener and asks him why. The answer to the gardener is: The tree is leaning against the wall of the elongated building. Atatürk, who is not satisfied with his reaction, gives an order that is impossible even to be considered: "THE TREE WILL NOT BE CUT, THE BUILDING WILL BE MOVED".

Municipality Science Works Roads Bridge Branch undertakes responsibility. Chief Engineer Ali Galip Alnar comes to Yalova with his technical staff and starts to work.

On August 8, 1930, the land around the building was first dug with great care and reached the basic level of the structure.

The tram that is brought from Istanbul is tiled. Centimeters is working on the rails which are inserted under the building structure by working in centimeters.

Now the building has been moved over the rails and removed from the tree. On a beautiful and warm summer evening, together with Ulu Önder Atatürk, his brother Makbule Atadan, Governor Muhittin Bey, Deputy Director of Science Office Ziya Bey and reporter Yunus Nadi under the supervision of reporter Yunus Nadi. Moved around.

This extraordinary and risky work will be completed on August 10, 1930 and will be saved from being cut at "Great Plane Tree".

Since that day, the name of the mansion has remained "WALKING VILLA".

The Ministry of Culture has been listed and registered as a necessary Cultural and Natural Property to be protected by Decision No. 12238 of 12.07.1980 and High Council of Antiquities and Monuments of Real Estate. It was restored by the Municipality of Yalova in 2006 and opened to visitors. The museum is open between 09:00 and 18:00 hours excluding Mondays.
