Favourite travel apps: Tours & Organistion Edition

Tours:
GetYourGuide: this app is great for tours as you can search by city and have all tours available. They have both guided tours and tickets for almost all of the city sites. Great discounts are available and most of their tickets have the skip the line feature which is great for popular sites especially in summer. As it is an app tickets are saved straight to the phone/ device and you don’t need to muck around with getting tickets printed for each site.

TripAdvisor: TripAdvisor is a great app for looking at excursions, places to eat and also finding answers to frequently asked questions about each city. You can also purchase tickets on this app again saving it to the phone and being able to skip lines. As there are always very honest reviews it’s always a good place to look before booking a tour, it is also a great app if you have dietary needs as the Resturant section can be broken down into needs.

Entreance to a bar in Dubrovnik I found using TripAdvisor

LonelyPlanet: this is the free app version of the lonely planet travelling books. This is great because you can just download the cities you are wanting to go to instead of having the extra weight of books to lug around. Being similar to TripAdvisor in that it shows you the best sites to visit, places to eat and sleep. It differs in that you can download offline maps and cannot purchase tour tickets.

Money:
Spendee: this app is great for ensuring you are both on budget and understand where your money is going. With currency conversions and the ability to scan receipts imputing data is extremely easy. All data is separated into categories relevant for your own expenses I.e accomodation, transport, gifts.
It is also free to download on apple App Store.

Miscellaneous:
Google Translate: this is one of the best translating apps I have found. It doesn’t always translate perfectly but enough that when you are reading menus it can help. There is the photo and microphone option so you can either take a picture or record a phrase and then translate from there.

TouchNote: is a great app that transfers your photos to postcards, greeting cards and letters. It sends them with postage straight away so you don’t need to both with writing out your message, stamps and finding a postbox. It is great as it adds a personal touch and you aren’t buying a generic postcard.

Snapseed: this is a photo editing app which I use to brighten and sharpen my images. There are also filters and other editing features however I do not use these as much. It is great when there are a lot of people at a place you are taking photos of and you don’t want to muck around with lighting at that time.
