Hiking a Mountain at Night to see Zhuhai, China
Hello Steemians!
I have been staying in Zhuhai, China for a few months now and I decided finally to hike up the mountain near our house at night for the first time. I have been saying I want to do it for weeks and I kept putting it off because I was tired, lazy, etc... I have been up many times during the day but it was a really special experience at night and I am kicking myself for not going more.
About Zhuhai
Zhuhai is a very small city by China standards that straddles the border with Macau but like the rest of China it is growing fast. Zhuhai also straddles the Pearl River Delta which travels up through the province and it has beautiful riverside walkways filled with runners and fishermen. The mountain near our house is called Banzhangshan Forest Park and is the largest of the small mountains throughout the city. There are multiple trail systems and a small road that lead to the top and around the mountain. The top also has several cell and radio towers spread across it which have paved paths between them with viewing platforms.
At The Top
Once you reach the top of the stairs there are multiple viewing spots to see both the north and south side of the city. During the day it is usually quite hazy but at night I was surprised by how clear it was. The view to the south is really something because you can see a lot of the lights in Macau in the distance. You can also see the new bridge that's been built that goes from Zhuhai to Hong Kong, although it doesn't open for a few more months.
All in all I was quite impressed by the view at night so if you ever find yourself in Zhuhai or Macau make sure you take a look! Thanks for reading!
Totally worth the hike. The view is beautiful!
Ya i have loved living here, the base of the mountain is a 5 minute walk from my door so I spend an hour or so up there everyday. It really is much better at night though it seems all the haze and smog just disappears.
Great picture! I like it 👍
