My Birthday In Bilbao 🇪🇸

This is properly the most famous picture you’ll get out of Bilbao !

I was so excited to get back on a plane this time !! I was meeting my friend who’s home it was - she was home visiting her parents as she’s living in Cambridge now !

I was welcomed with opened arms which was fab to have someone I know showing me round her home town!!! We made our way to the hostel we were staying in .. freshen up and headed out for a glass of wine or 6!!!

Everywhere was just so beautiful ... cute little bars, food at every bar that you just snack on and pay
for what you’ve had! Was amazing !

Wine after wine in each little bar went down so easy !! We ended up meeting a group of my friends friends! And headed to a music festival street thing til the early hours ..

We grabbed the train back and got some shut eye before the paella 🥘 festival in a near by town the next day !!! Getxo

Paella Festival Day

We grabbed some breakfast and headed to where we were meeting the friends from last night ...

Just awesome the little cafes ! Everyone is so friendly I guess mainly because Mai spoke Spanish haha!!

We all piled in a car with the drinks in the back and drove to where the party was at !! I’d never seen sangria being made in a bin!!! And then taking it in turns to carry it to our stop !!! It was an awesome atmosphere !!

It was crazy !! People was setting up camp for the day !! And people even had like dance tents!! It was pretty cool but we did go to the beach for a chill !! Algorta

It was nice to just chill after partying !!! Plus I had to head to the airport that evening for my flight home!! We got back to our hostel and grabbed our cases! We thought we would have a special dinner for our last night and 1 more glass of wine!!! Don’t even like wine normally but this wine was just so lovely :):)

It got cancelled ...!!! I got emails but went to the airport just in case! No flight ... easyJet got me one for the next day but we had to figure out where we were going to stay !! I was full of cold and in a way was gutted I wasn’t seeing my parents on my actual birthday even though I thought I needed to get away ... my friend made it as lovely as she could and we ended up staying at her brothers !

The extra day ( my birthday)

She showed me a couple of beaches :) and I wanted to go to an area where they filmed some of Game of Thrones but we didn’t have enough time!! But the beaches and walks we did were lovely ...

Then we headed into the centre for a little bit of lunch to pop to the hospital ( to see her parents ) and to see the main events - museums ... oh and some souvenir shopping! You know me by now!!!

Then we headed out to another beach before having another last supper in a cute little Italian restaurant..

I loved running around on the beach looking into all the little coves and taking pictures as you can tell the weather wasn’t great but fab for exploring ... Liendo :) another place to tick off the list !!

We had pasta and wine obvs! Before heading to the airport again! It was sad saying goodbye to my friend she made my experience fabulous and I really enjoyed it :) like I said another place to tick off the long list of places in the world to see !!!

It is very different and the cute little bars and restaurants and especially if you know someone that’s knows the area ! The festivals were really fun and I felt like a right local :)

Check Bilbao 🇪🇸 Out!! The famous Gorka from strictly is from there !! A useless fact for you!!!

Anyway

The most unusual visits and the not so known can sometimes be the most fab experience so don’t always follow that sheep :)

I think for my next blog il combine my 2 trips to Paris 🇫🇷 !! One trip was another birthday trip away as a surprise and then last April 2019 I went to go to Disneyland mainly!!

Hope you enjoyed my little whirlwind trip to Bilbao 🇪🇸 And il catch you next time in the city of love but il be sharing my experience of the beautiful city and my adventures more than else !!!
