We left the Rommanee Guesthouse at around 10h00 to get to the pier for our boat ride to Phi Phi at 11h00. The hotel helped us organise a taxi, and it was a mere 6 minute drive to Rasada Pier (the Rommanee is a good place to stay if you have to be at the pier early in the morning). We boarded a ferry that is part of the Chaokoh Group (see below). The prices change according to season, so I would recommend visiting https://www.phuketferry.com for updated prices.

The ride to Phi Phi lasted about two hours, but we spent most of the time sleeping as we were still quite tired after all the traveling. The inside of the boat is air-conditioned with reclinable seats, but you can also walk around the deck and chill on the roof or anywhere outside. When we arrived at Tonsai Pier, we looked for the Hotel's charter service. We did not book on the main part of the island as we are working whilst traveling and do enjoy quieter areas. We found the skipper for Ba Kao Bay Resort and were told to wait a few minutes for the boat to arrive. This gave us time to buy a sim card and sunglasses.

You do not have to spend large amounts of money to have a good time on Phi Phi Island. We paid ZAR565/$44 per night for three-star accommodation with wifi and air-conditioning, 100m from bars, restaurants, and beaches. Ba Kao Bay Resort has a restaurant, swimming pool, and taxi service from the beach. We are here for three nights before moving on.

The main reason we returned to Phi Phi 5 months later was to revisit The Buffalo Head Bar where we had made friends with the greatest Thai brothers earlier in the year. Noom and his brother, the owners of the bar, are some of the most amazing people we have ever met. They serve the tastiest food and delicious cocktails, and the bar is one the more affordable places to eat and drink. Our average lunches with two dishes and two drinks are about THB300/ZAR120/$9.
