My top 10 places in Europe

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Here’s my list of the Top 10 Places in Europe—but only from the places I’ve personally visited.

I hope you’ll see why I chose these locations. If you disagree with the order, let me know in the comments how you would rank them differently. Let’s get started!

10) Pisa, Italy

Don’t get me wrong—Pisa is a lovely place. However, aside from the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Piazza dei Miracoli, I didn’t find much else to do there. When I visited, the streets were filled with sellers pushing fake goods, which got a bit frustrating. That said, the tower leans more than photos can ever capture, and seeing it in person is a unique experience.

Cost to visit Pisa:
Flights and two nights with British Airways start from £130 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

9) Innsbruck, Austria

This is a beautiful destination surrounded by mountains and hills. While I didn’t spend much time here, the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views left a lasting impression. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you’ll love it here. For thrill-seekers, I highly recommend white-water rafting—I had an unforgettable experience and would gladly do it again!

The rivers are stunning.

The charming main town.

Cost to visit Innsbruck:
Flights and four nights with British Airways start from £155 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

8) Paris, France

Paris is always buzzing with activity. On one of my visits, I went to see the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum, but the tower was sadly closed due to riots during Euro 2016. Despite that, Paris remains a romantic city with a unique charm. There’s always something happening, making it an exciting place to visit.

Cost to visit Paris:
Flights and two nights with British Airways start from £108 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

7) Rhine Valley, Germany

The Rhine Valley is another place filled with hills, mountains, and a beautiful river running through it. While it’s a quieter destination, the breathtaking views make it well worth a visit.

Cost to visit the Rhine Valley:
Prices start from £300 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

6) Venice, Italy

Venice is a cultural treasure. With its canals, bridges, and lack of cars, it’s like stepping back in time. Highlights include Doge's Palace, St Mark’s Basilica, and my personal favourite, the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. The only downside was the persistent street sellers, which detracted from the peaceful charm of the city.

Cost to visit Venice:
Prices start from £400 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

5) Florence, Italy

Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance and a city full of vibrant culture. From the Florence Cathedral to the Ponte Vecchio, every corner feels steeped in history. The abundance of cafes and restaurants only adds to the city’s charm, making it a fantastic place to visit.

Cost to visit Florence:
Prices start from £200 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

4) London, England

London is a city of contrasts, combining historic landmarks with modern marvels. I’ve made so many happy memories here, from exploring Tower Bridge and Houses of Parliament to admiring The Shard.

3) Rome, Italy

Rome is a paradise for history and architecture lovers. The city is alive with energy during the day, but at night, the lights add a magical touch to its ancient landmarks.

The Trevi Fountain is breathtaking.

The iconic Colosseum.

Cost to visit Rome:
Prices start from £120 per person (as of 28th June 2017).

2) Monaco (French Riviera), France

Monaco is the playground of the rich and famous. From flashy cars to luxurious yachts, it’s a spectacle of wealth and glamour. The nightlife is electric, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a touch of extravagance.

Fast cars everywhere.

Private yachts galore.

1) Lucerne, Switzerland

Lucerne tops my list because it’s simply stunning. Words can’t do justice to its beauty—the landscapes, the tranquillity, and the charm of the town are unmatched. It’s a bit pricey, but worth every penny!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list! What do you think of my rankings? What are your top 10 favourite places in Europe? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
