Why I Found Boca Do Inferno (Mouth of Hell) Oddly Relaxing
A few months ago I visited Cascais, Portugal to see 'Boca do Inferno'. It is described online as a "deep sea chasm" or in other words a very rough waters cave thing on the coast. Something about the violent crashing on waves here seemed to lull me into a state of relaxation.
It would be first that, if you subtracted the sound of crashing waves onto the coast out and took in the visual only, it was a beautiful place.. I imagine if someone was impaired of hearing, this would not stand out as the vicious coast line but rather a breathtaking scene. What I also noticed was birds and small animals in the backgrounds that seemed to be very much enjoying this place. I believe the naming of this place was for theatrical reasons.
You don't really have any clue what to say in a place like this. I felt a bit odd even with my camera out- it seemed almost like a religious place where it would be out of order to be taking selfies. Less to say, it was deeply moving just taking in the combination of crashing waves with the golden toasted cliffs. It's interesting that I didn't even know this was a tourist destination until I looked it up right now to check the spelling of the city. Think of all of the places you could discover on your own and have your own interpretation- if given the possibility to not have know the perception of it by others beforehand.
