Do you really think there is only one GREAT WALL in the world?
Ask anyone to name a great wall and the chances are that the word China will appear in their answer. Although THE WALL OF CHINA is the greatest wall of the world but majority of the people don't know the other walls which are also much bigger. Right now, I am putting 5 great walls of the world other than the wall of China. If you are thinking that I'll be putting great ice wall of north from Game of Thrones or the wall between USA and mexico, then I am sorry for your disappointment (Just kidding). Lets see if they can amaze you.
1. The walls of ston - Croatia
Croatia has a well kept secret, a wall hundreds of years old which is the longest complete fortress system around a town in Europe and the second in the world. Yet very few seem to have heard of the Walls of Ston. Ston is one of the most under visited places in Europe considering its historic legacy. It is a little isolated, on the Peljesac Peninsula which is situated 60 km away from the nearest large city, Dubrovnik which itself has a population of under fifty thousand.
2. Hadrian's Wall - England
For around three centuries, Hadrian’s Wall was a vibrant, multi-cultured frontier sprawling almost 80 miles coast-to-coast. Built by a force of 15,000 men in under six years, it’s as astounding today for its sheer vision as it is for its engineering. 3. Diyarbakir city walls - Turkey
With its length of 6 kilometers, Walls of Diyarbakir, is the second largest city walls in the world after the Great Wall of China. It is situated 100 m. above the valley of River Tigris. Diyarbakir still carries a medieval atmosphere with its walls encircling the city with its almost intact and impressive, 10-12 meters high and 3-5 meters thick, high walls. The Citadel and the Walls of Diyarbakir, guarding the city for thousands of years, as if it was guarding a holy relic by surrounding the city magnificently, and 8,000 years old Hevsel Gardens are nominated as a candidate for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) World Heritage List.
4. Kumbhalgarh Fort Rajasthan - India
Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh, located at a distance of 64 kms from Udaipur in Rajasmand district. The fort extend to the length of 36 kilometers and this fact has made this fort to be in the international records. It is the second longest wall in the world, the first being ”the Great Wall of China”.
5. Ranikot Fort - Pakistan
The Ranikot Fort also known as Dewar-e-Sindh (Great Wall of Sindh), with a circumference of about 26 km or 16 miles, is reputed to be the largest unexplored fort in the world. Since 1993, it has been on the list of tentative UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is located in the Kirthar Range, about 30 km southwest of Sann, in Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan.
