There was an one of the oldest artificial pond in Gyeongju. The size of pond was huge, so it would be better to call it lake.

This pond was made after the unification of Korean peninsular 674 AD.
This pond was said to be a part of the palace of Shilla dynasty.
It was located in front of the main palace of Shilla dynasty.
It is recorded that the crown prince had resided there.

It was made very scientifically.
The entrance of water to the pond was made thoughtfully.

It was designed to filter the impurities from water.

And there was an island to control the speed of water.

The wall was made in eastern area, but there was no wall in western part.
This design was intended the pond looked wider.

It was surprising how they had built such a large artificial pond more than 1400 years ago.

Almost of original building was ruined after the collapse of Shilla dynasty.

Current buildings were reconstructed in these days.

While walking along the road around the pond, I enjoyed the beauty of the pond.

the pond was so beautiful that it only belongs to the heaven! thank you for sharing .

Really beautiful photos! Thank you!

I love fish.

Your photography is so beautiful!great!I guess you must be a person who loves life mostly. There is an old saying in China that if the water is too clear, there will be no fish.but today I saw the water is too clear, there are fish too。。。。haha

Hopefully that's the case, but it's not always the case.

This posts tells us how the people before us was so genius and architecturally skilled. they have taken care of the nature around build a amazing lake for the peace of eye. i wish today's architect could understand and learn to build from the same manner

looks very tranquil

'ANAPJI' is 안압지 in Korean.
