Crocodile Ranch visit , where you can touch and hold a crocodile baby !!
Did you know average fully grown crocodile found in Africa can weigh 500 kilos !!! Out of various unique things Africa offers , Crocodile breeding is one. Honestly i did not know something called crocodile ranch exists until we visited one in Limpopo province in South Africa. Agatha (http://www.agatha-crocodile.co.za/) ranch has guided tours of the ranch which we opted for , Nobody wants to visit a lake filled with those hunters alone !
On the reception they offer goods made from different crocodile parts , also some showpieces
Then the guide took us to the small lake they have built where big sized crocodiles are kept, from the picture it looks normal but if you look at it closely , you will see how many crocodiles are visible ! we were shocked to know there are 220 of them in that water, it was an awww moment for us.
Here they feed these hunters with chicken which they throw in water while all these giants from water catch it, sadly it was a very hot day and crocs don't eat much on hot days :(
Then we went to see the mid sized crocs , they cant put them with big ones because bigger crocodiles eat smaller ones (Gross!) , interesting fact - They keep getting fatter with age. Their lifespan is from 70-100 years , so they are at their highest weight when they are old.
Crocodiles have so much fat in their body that they can live one year without food and 6 months without water !!
Their fat is also considered very good for skin diseases because of its healing properties.
They keep their mouth open for long time due to inability of their skin to ventilate. They can exhaust heat from their body only through their mouth because of their hard skin.
Finally we saw the baby crocodiles , and we could hold one of them in our hands. We were scared because it had enough teeth to bite and very mush skin. Still we managed to get the click and smile through it :)
