Maji Moto - the Kikuletwa Hot Springs

in #travel7 years ago

I joined Steemit late last year with big plans to be totally active and blog regularly. Obviously, this hasn't been the case. In my defense, I haven't made total waste of these last few months...

That's me being really stressed out at Maji Moto, a natural hot spring in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. Long story short, back in June my girlfriend and I booked a flight to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. We thought it would inspire us over the next 6 months to really get back into shape to prepare for the climb. This did not happen. We ended up passing on the climb, but with tickets already booked to Africa (and with vacation time already approved and in the books) we decided to continue the trip and check out Tanzania anyways - great decision!

Maji Moto is an oasis in the middle of miles of grassland and small villages, and a must-see for anyone in Kilimanjaro or Arusha region of Tanzania. It costs a few bucks to get in, but you can spend the afternoon and there is even someplace to get food (and beer) if you don't bring your own food.

Careful though, there are monkeys in the area who too shy to steal whatever food you've got.

I won't write a long entry about this - if this looks cool to you there is plenty of information about it on the old google machine. I just wanted to share this gem of a place in a little known corner of the world which I would highly recommend!

Thanks for reading.
