King of Fruits Season —Durian
Later this year, King of Fruits season arrived. This is marked by the traders who opened a stall on the roadside. Each year, when the durian season arrives in Banda Aceh is very easy to find.

Regarded by many people in southeast Asia as the notorious "king of fruits", the durian is distinctive for its size, strong odour, and formidable thorn-covered rind. The fruit can grow as large as 30 centimeters (12 in) long and 15 centimeters (6 in) in diameter, and it typically weighs one to three kilograms (2 to 7 lb). Durian plantations in Aceh are still traditionally cultivated, therefore it can only bear fruit 1-2 times a year. When durian is harvest, this fruit will abundant in the provincial capital. The fruit named latin durio zibethinus is supplied from the rimland of Aceh.
Famous durian producing regions such as Leupung-Lhoong, Tangse, East-North Area and West-South Aceh. Usually each region differs from its fruiting period, and it feels different too.
Not only to Banda Aceh, durian origin of Aceh is also able to penetrate the market of Medan City, North Sumatra. Sale price varies, ranging from Rp. 10,000 to 30,000 per piece.
Like when we asked the merchants around Keude Kajhu. They say, durian is sold is supplied from Labuhan Haji (South Aceh) and Manggeng (Southwest Aceh).[]
