My Mother’s Journey on the Blockchain: Racha Island [Phuket, Thailand]

Winter is coming.

Day time is shorter and those in the Western part of the globe can start to feel cold breezes and the chills.

But for South East Asia, it is a pleasant time. Not too hot. Not too cold. For those who are looking to escape the frosty weather, there is no better destination than the Andaman Sea.

This was a trip we took together as a family. We chose to visit the Racha Island, which was 12 km down south of Phuket.

Everyone has heard of Phuket, the biggest island down south of Thailand, well-known for its clear ocean, delicious seafood, and many other things. The Racha Island is a famous daytrip destination for diving and snorkeling. However, as it was my Mom’s birthday, we chose to spend the night there as well.

From Phuket, we took a speed boat to the Racha Island, which took around 45 minutes.

The main bay of Racha Island is shaped like U, with fine white sand and crystal-clear sea water. It was so clear we could see the fish from above the water.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. All rooms were low rise villas. We were lucky as we were upgraded to the junior pool suite, with a large living room and bedroom area.

The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. Also access to the outdoor area.

The highlight, however, was the indoor Jacuzzi pool (that's me in the picture, by the way).

The hotel was set in a prime location, fronting with the Andaman Sea.

There are two large swimming pools, one in the garden and another on a higher floor facing the ocean.

We spent most of the time just relaxing, swimming, and kayaking. There are also a range of activities such as diving, snorkeling, riding ATVs, and hiking around the island.

As the sun started to set, visitors started to make their way back.

It was crowded during the day as visitors spend their time on the Island. However, during the evening and morning, it was very peaceful. Almost like a private island.

And because each villa has a private Jacuzzi. You can go in for a night dip anytime!
